“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
Trials can be physical, emotional, and spiritual. Some are temporary, while others seem to last forever. Nonetheless, they test our faith and perseverance. We must rely on God’s strength and wisdom in these seasons to help us endure, for there is always hope. Though the battle may be long, our trust in the Almighty will be our anchor, guiding us through the storm.
In Ephesians 6:12, Paul makes it clear we are in a spiritual war, which isn’t against humans, but against principalities, powers, and the rulers of darkness. Because of this, we need to be constantly alert and ready. By wearing our spiritual armor (Ephesians 6:10-18), the power of prayer, and meditating on the Word of God, we can fight against the enemy’s attacks.
Isolating ourselves creates an opening for these attacks. However, others can fight our battles alongside us when we’re part of a community. Proverbs 11:14 states, “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” Sharing our burdens with people who care for us can help us feel less alone, and by seeking godly counsel, we can better discern God’s will for our lives.
The best thing we can do during these times is to draw close to God, obey Him, persist in prayer, and seek help from others. Then we can overcome any challenge that come our way. After going through the fire of long-term battles, we emerge refined and stronger in our faith.
Lord Jesus, sometimes this mental and spiritual battle is too much for me. I desperately need You to take this burden and bring me joy again. Please give me the courage to seek help and send others to accompany me in my trials. I desire to deepen my connection with You and feel the warmth and comfort of Your divine love. Thank You for the healing to come. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
