Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
According to the Bible, a wife is called to submit to her husband. Submission is often viewed as a negative concept in our modern culture, as an admission of inequality or weakness. However, submission doesn’t mean that your husband is better, smarter, or more capable than you are. It just means that God has given him the role of leader. 1 Peter 3:21 states that submission applies to all Christians, “Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”
Peter also mentions the significance of respect. Respect is a husband’s greatest need, and even in challenging situations where the husband may not be acting honorably, a wife’s honoring attitude can positively impact and inspire change. Praise and encouragement can fuel a man’s desire to be the best version of himself. As a wife, you can uplift your husband with words of affirmation.
If you feel your husband is not living up to his responsibilities to you, your family, or God, remember that you can apply the principles in 1 Peter 3 and trust in God’s ability to transform your husband.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom that You give. I know You’re a God who wants to bless and wants marriages filled with love, joy, and peace. You can do all the things, and anything is possible with You. I pray Your blessings upon my marriage and the marriage of others. Help us be the husbands and wives You call us to be.
