Meekness, or gentleness, is not weakness. In the Bible, both Moses and Jesus are described as meek. Jesus even said He is gentle when He called weary people to find their rest in him. In the New Testament, “meek” was also used to describe warhorses. These horses had to bridle their power for the sake of others. Even in Jesus’ suffering, we witness Him caring for others along the way. That is a display of His sacrificial power.

Jesus knew His Father’s Word. Psalm 37:11 reads, “But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.” The most fulfilled in life, and the most respected, are those who bridle their power with selfless kindness.
