Sometimes in life, especially during periods of intense fear and anxiety, such as intimidating work experiences or unfamiliar travels, it feels like God isn’t always with us in the way that we think He should be. 

You might wonder — if God wants the best for us as faithful Christians, why does He put us in situations that are uneasy, unsafe, or unfamiliar in the first place? 

What’s easy to forget, though, is that it‘s precisely these types of situations that end up bringing us closer to God. 

In this sense, any situation that threatens harm isn’t unjust but rather a careful design of the Almighty to test our spiritual resolve and enhance our relationship with Him.

Additionally, there are countless examples in the Bible where God has protected His children, like His protection of His prophet Jeremiah. 

God is omnipotent. That means He has unlimited and universal power. And, He has a plan for each person on this Earth. We can’t possibly come close to understanding the intricacies and complexity of God’s intentions for us. 

But we can resolve to follow His word and trust that His protection will be there if we live according to His will as it is expressed in the Bible. 

Let’s go to the scriptures to understand more about God’s protection.

The Bible is a beautiful source of inspiration that we can turn to in order to learn about God and His will for us. God’s words can also provide us with comfort and protection in our times of need.

Let’s break down six prominent scriptures from the Bible about God’s protection.

Deuteronomy 33:12

“And of Benjamin he said, the beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him; and the Lord shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.”

Moses, a messenger of God, gave this blessing, among others, to the children of Israel before his death. This is a reassuring verse on God’s enduring presence in our daily lives.

Psalm 91

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.”

This Psalm verse offers us insight into how we might receive God’s protection — by staying in God’s company and trusting in Him.

2 Thessalonians 3:3

“But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.”

How wonderful it is that, just as we have faith in the Lord, the Lord has faith in us. He trusts that we’ll bravely resist the influence of evil, and we should trust in Him to protect us in that plight.

Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

This scripture from the Book of Isaiah is one of the most repeated Bible verses, not only for its poetic beauty but also for the warmth and comfort that it brings.

Psalm 121:5-8

“The Lord watches over you — the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm — he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”

This Psalm reminds us that we can always trust in the knowledge that the Lord is watching over us. He will never leave us alone, and He will protect us.

Psalm 18:2-3

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my savior, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, And I am saved from my enemies.”

When your problems seem insurmountable and your fate sealed, remember David, who was saved from certain death by the hands of Saul.

There are a thousand things along life's journey that can instill fear within us. In these times of trouble, seek refuge not in a hiding place but in the house of the Lord. 

There are countless examples of Biblical figures crying out in the name of the Lord, seeking comfort and the word of God so that He might present help. 

And, given people’s faith in Him, He invariably delivered. 

To receive protection from God or an angel of the Lord, have faith in Him and the Lord Jesus Christ, and they will watch over you. Pray nightly, and return to the Bible to be inspired by its many verses.
